Young and talented director Atlee brought in country’s top stars together for Jawan which is one of the biggest movies of India in 2023. The movie was released worldwide on Friday and let us check how the movie is received.

Plot
Vikram Rathore (Shah Rukh Khan), a common man embarks on a journey to rectify the wrongs in the society he comes from. To make a point and draw the attention of the world, he hijacks a train. What hurt Vikram? Why is he seeking revenge? Against whom? How the train hijack is handled and by whom? Answers to all these questions form the rest of the story.

Performances
Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in about 7 roles in Jawan and he did justice to every role he played.

Vijay Sethupathi aced his performance as an antagonist. He has intimidating and powerful scenes in the film. Vijay maintains the fear that his presence instils in others, whether he is portraying a young or elderly person. Prior to the climax, his fight with Vikram is masterfully written and humorously filmed. Every time Nayanthara enters the scene, there is a slow-motion shot to welcome her. But sadly, their chemistry is really flat and doesn’t produce any spark. On the other side, Deepika Padukone’s special appearance as Vikram Rathore’s wife Aishwarya is delightful to behold. The two are even featured in a dance sequence that evokes vivid memories of the Chennai Express.

Analysis
Jawan is a treat to fans of action films and also Shah Rukh Khan. It is a double treat watching him in a dual role. Jawan combines everything that makes for an interesting and enjoyable film without adhering to any predetermined templates or stereotypes. When you think of a masala blockbuster with plenty of action, drama, song, and romance, Jawan comes to mind. I won’t even say, “Don’t apply brains,” because it brings up some crucial points. The nearly three-hour-long movie portrays a gripping picture of widespread corruption at many levels in the system that brutally impacts the average person. Thankfully, it never becomes preachy, although for a moment it does veer into social commentary territory, notably with SRK’s monologue near the conclusion.
