“I Was Waiting for a Film Like Hey Balwanth” — Suhas
Actor Suhas is pinning strong hopes on his upcoming entertainer Hey Balwanth, a film he believes arrives at the perfect moment in his career. Billed as a full-length commercial entertainer, the movie brings together a familiar mix of emotion, humour, and drama—elements Suhas says he instantly connected with the moment he heard the script.
Backed by the successful combination of Bunny Vaas and Vamsi Nandipati, known for crowd-pleasing films like Little Hearts, Raju Weds Rambhai, and Eesha, Hey Balwanth is produced under Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vaas Works. The film stars Suhas alongside Shivani Nagaram, senior actor Naresh, and anchor Sravanti in pivotal roles. Directed by Gopi Achhar and produced by B. Narendra Reddy under Trishul Visionary Studios, the film is slated for release on February 20.
Speaking to the media ahead of the release, Suhas opened up about the journey of the film and why it holds special significance for him.
A Title Change with Purpose
Originally titled Hey Bhagwan, the film underwent a name change following suggestions from the censor board. “Since ‘Bhagwan’ refers to God, the board advised us to change the title,” Suhas explained. “That’s how it became Hey Balwanth. Along with the title, even Naresh garu’s character name was changed, and the censor board also reviewed the film’s core concept.”
A Relatable, Entertaining Character
In the film, Suhas plays a young man with entrepreneurial dreams, someone determined from childhood to establish his own business and eventually take over his father’s. “The story is about the challenges he faces and the reality behind his father’s business,” he said. “It’s a complete entertainer, and my role is designed to be fun and engaging.”
One of the Fastest Films of His Career
Hey Balwanth also stands out for its swift production schedule. “This is one of the fastest films I’ve completed and released after finalising it,” Suhas shared. “Despite the speed, the quality never suffered. At one point, I wondered if I would ever work on such a fast-paced project again.”

Choosing the Right Script
After a series of setbacks, Suhas admits he became extra cautious while selecting scripts. “I was advised by many people—including my wife—to think carefully before choosing my next film,” he revealed. “So I took a short break. When Hey Balwanth came to me, I felt confident. I loved the story instantly, especially the emotional connect. Honestly, the final output turned out far better than what we expected.”
Comedy, Confidence, and a Fresh Phase
Known largely for serious and intense roles, Suhas is stepping into comedy in a big way with Hey Balwanth. “Early in my career, I did a lot of comedy in short films,” he said. “After watching this film, even my wife told me I should do more roles like this. I feel lucky that this opportunity came at the right time.”
Asked if this film marks “Suhas 2.0,” he smiled and replied modestly, “Don’t use such big words. But yes, I strongly believe this film will bring me success.”
Looking Ahead: Tamil and Telugu Projects
Suhas also spoke about his upcoming Tamil film Mandadi, where he plays the main antagonist. “It’s a look and character I’ve been waiting for. They approached me after watching Ambajipeta,” he said, adding that the audience response will determine how busy he gets in Tamil cinema.
On the Telugu front, he confirmed a project under Karthik Subbaraj’s banner, with the filmmaker providing the story and his associate directing the film. “I’m also listening to a few more Telugu scripts, which will be finalised soon,” he added.
Optimism Runs High
Suhas concluded on a confident note, saying the entire team believes strongly in Hey Balwanth. “Everyone is very positive about this film. My wife watched it and enjoyed it thoroughly. She told me these are the kind of films I should do,” he said. “I’m satisfied with my career so far—but if this film becomes a hit, that satisfaction will only grow.”
