Ravi Krishna, a well known face with small screen viewers making his mark on big screen with different roles in films like Virupaksha, Love Me, and now soon to be released The Birthday Boy says films have always been his first love.
What’s your role in the movie and why did you accept it?
Ravi: The Birthday Boy makers approached me long before the time of Virupaksha. I properly auditioned for the role which got me this role. I’m confident that this story has to be told, being it a true story and the intrigue it’s caused. My character starts after 20 minutes into the movie and peeling the layers one by one in this thriller story to uncover the truth.
Is The Birthday Boy a family entertainer?
Ravi: First 20 minutes are filled with fun and comedy among 5 friends, all boys. As we see the trailer, after one boy dies, I come to the rescue of all the others. After I come and rest of the cast enter the screen as per the story, it is all family drama and thriller then.
Tell us your journey from TV to bug screen?
Ravi: Everyone who comes to the industry dreams of working in films, but as we all know it’s not that easy. Due to family pressures and financial struggles I’m blessed to have worked on TV before. Audience accepted me so well that laid a strong foundation for me. While I was working on TV, it was a regular income, through which I cleared all my financial burdens. I played lead roles in all those.
Not many Telugu actors are successful coming from TV to big screen. What’s your secret of success?
Ravi: Whoever wants to come to the film industry and prove their mark in films, I could only say “Consistency is the key”. After working for so long on TV, after BigBoss, I have struggled, went to offices, given many auditions for about 4 years and then got those roles which now people identify as a movie actor. Without thinking about anything else, I tried my best everywhere. After Virupaksha, people are taking me seriously and offering me good roles.
Is this a boys alone movie? Does it have any heroines or female cast?
Ravi: You know me, I would love to have a full platter. Even after asking the director, he refused to cast any female leads as per the story. There is no scope for extra characters. He didn’t want to ruin the true story. He wanted to do an honest representation of the story.
Have you ever been in such wild birthday party?
Ravi: No. I’m usually calm and silent person. I don’t do parties, even if I did, those were never that wild.
You said this is a true story, is the case solved in real life?
Ravi: No. Not yet. The case is not solved yet. That’s why it’s more fascinating.
What are your upcoming projects?
Ravi: I will be playing a lead role in a movie called A1, A2, A3. This movie is like JathiRathnalu. Out and out comedy. I have high hopes for the script. I’m playing an important role in Gowtham Tinnanuri and Vijay Deverakonda’s film VD12. And doing one with Sai Dharam Tej and Hanu-Man makers Prime Show Entertainment.
