“I played a very interesting character that is connected to the story in HIT 3” says heroine Srinidhi Shetty.
Natural Star Nani’s highly anticipated crime action thriller HIT: The 3rd Case features Srinidhi Shetty as the female lead. Directed by Dr. Sailesh Kolanu, the film is produced by Prashanti Tipirneni under Wall Poster Cinema and Nani’s Unanimous Productions banners. Even before release, the film, along with its teaser, trailer, and songs, has created a sensation across the country. HIT: The 3rd Case is set for a pan-India release on May 1. On this occasion, heroine Srinidhi Shetty shared interesting details about the movie.
How is your character portrayed in this film?
I play the role of Mridula. You’ve already seen Arjun Sarkar’s character in the teaser and trailer — it’s intense and filled with violence. Apart from the violence, Arjun Sarkar’s character has many angles. Mridula is a character very different from Arjun Sarkar. Except for Mridula, Arjun Sarkar doesn’t care about anyone else’s words. Mridula is an independent character with multiple layers. It’s a very interesting role, but you’ll only fully understand it while watching the movie.
What is the importance of your role in the story?
Honestly, in investigative crime thrillers, the heroine’s role usually isn’t very prominent. But director Sailesh Kolanu is a brilliant writer. If you notice HIT and HIT 2, the importance of the heroine’s characterization increased with each film. The heroine’s character blends well into the story. In HIT 3 too, the heroine’s role has been made even better. There’s a very strong connection to the story, which you will realize when you watch the movie.
How was it working with Nani?
I’ve watched all of Nani’s movies. He’s a natural performer and very grounded. Working with him was a wonderful experience. He made me feel very comfortable, and when you’re in such a comfort zone, your performance automatically becomes much better.
We heard you dubbed for yourself in this film?
Yes, I dubbed for myself with a lot of interest. Initially, they had a dubbing artist record for my role. But I requested the director that I would like to dub myself. They agreed, and my voice was liked by the director. It felt very special that my voice was used for my first Telugu film. I made sure to sound like a Telugu girl, not a Kannada girl.
Since this is your first Telugu movie, how did you feel about the A certificate the film received?
-
When I first heard the story, I realized there would be a lot of violence and action. Honestly, this story demands that kind of violence and action. That’s the nature of this genre.

Srinidhi Shetty -
Even in KGF, there was violence, but it was a different world altogether. HIT 3 belongs to a different world.
-
Most of the films I’ve done so far had violence. Like the famous KGF dialogue says, “Violence, I don’t like it… but violence likes me,” (laughs).
Tell us about director Sailesh Kolanu.
-
This is the first time I’m doing an investigative thriller action drama. The director was very supportive. He explained everything in great detail and taught me a lot. He shoots with very good planning. I wish he achieves many more successes with fantastic movies in the future.
What about Mickey J. Meyer’s music?
-
Mickey J. Meyer has composed brilliant music for the film. It’s new for him to work on a thriller like this, and he gave his best. Audiences will really enjoy it. The background score is very thrilling. The first song, Prema Velluva, became a huge hit. Similarly, the song sung by Anirudh is also a superhit.
-
DOP S. Manikandan (Shanu) has provided brilliant visuals. The entire technical team gave their best work. Technically, the movie is top-notch.
Will you appear in KGF 3?
-
Whether I’m in KGF 3 or not… wait and watch! (laughs)
We heard you rejected the role of Sita in Ramayana?
-
I want to clarify this. There’s some miscommunication in the media. I auditioned for the role of Sita — that’s the truth. After that, I didn’t receive any calls from them. I’m not such a big actress to reject such a huge role. Only the audition part is true. The filmmakers made the final decision. I later came to know through the media that Sai Pallavi was finalized for the role.
What are your upcoming films?
I’m currently shooting for the film Telusu Kada.
