“Hey Balwanth Is A Complete Entertainer With Heartfelt Emotion” – Shivani Nagaram
The successful duo of Bunny Vas and Vamsi Nandipati, who earlier delivered popular entertainers, are back with a full-length out-and-out entertainer titled Hey Balwanth (earlier titled Hey Bhagavan). Produced by B. Narendra Reddy under the Trishul Visionary Studios banner, the film is directed by Gopi Achara and presented by Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vas Works.
Starring Suhas, Shivani Nagaram, senior actor Naresh, and anchor Sravanti in key roles, the film is set for a theatrical release on February 20.
Ahead of the release, actress Shivani Nagaram interacted with the media and spoke candidly about the film, her role, and her career journey. Here are the highlights from the interview:
What kind of movie is Hey Balwanth?
This is my second film with Suhas and the third film in my career. In our previous film, my character and the story were quite intense. But Hey Balwanth is much lighter and more entertaining. I really enjoyed performing this role. The film will entertain the audience completely, and the father-and-son emotion toward the end will definitely touch hearts. My character has a beautiful mix of innocence and comedy.
Will this film complete your hat-trick of hits?
I strongly believe so. The film is very good and has all the right elements. The characters played by Sudarshan, Suhas, and me will generate a lot of laughs. Naresh sir and Vennela Kishore’s characters are hilarious. The interval bang will be a big surprise and will be thoroughly enjoyable.
What made you accept this film?
I always choose the best story among the offers that come my way. My first film didn’t have comedy, my second was filled with comedy, and this film also has strong humor. I instantly liked both the story and my character when I heard the narration.
What is the business shown in the film? Are you connected to it?
No, that business belongs to Naresh sir’s family in the film. I’m not connected to it at all. You should definitely watch it in theatres—it will make you laugh throughout.
How is the movie going to be overall?
It’s a complete entertainer with colorful visuals and good music. The comedy by Naresh sir and Vennela Kishore will be a major highlight. Every character has a role in making the audience laugh.
We heard that you are also a singer?
Yes, I learned Kuchipudi and music. I’m actually a singer-turned-actor. I did a small humming bit in Little Hearts and sang a song in Aarambham. If good opportunities come, I’m definitely open to singing again.
How was it working with Suhas again?
Suhas is very friendly, supportive, and an excellent actor. Our combination worked well earlier, and it will entertain audiences once again in Hey Balwanth. I’m sure viewers will enjoy our scenes together.
Did your family support your decision to enter films?
My family has been very supportive from the beginning. I proved myself by doing good films using the opportunity they gave me, and they are very happy with my journey.
How are you managing offers after the success of Little Hearts?
I take success as motivation and move forward, but I accept a film only if I genuinely like the story—regardless of the combination. I see whether I connect with the story and how important my role is. That matters the most to me.
What kind of films do you want to do?
I didn’t initially plan to become an actor seriously, but now I’ve gained recognition. I feel lucky to be part of good films with strong teams and talented co-actors. I don’t want to do 100 films—if I do even five, they should be good stories.
If you get offers with star heroes, will you accept them without caring about the story?
For me, cinema is cinema. If I like the story and my role, I will definitely accept it. I came without any background, and maintaining the trust and value given by the audience is very important to me.
How are opportunities for you as a Telugu heroine?
I’m very happy. Today, there are more writers and directors, and Telugu girls are getting better opportunities. There’s no big or small film anymore—small films are also becoming big hits. Many people say that if you don’t do films continuously, you’ll disappear, but I want people to remember me as someone who always chooses good films.
What kind of films do you personally enjoy watching?
I like all genres, but I especially enjoy romantic comedies. When the mood is low, watching light-hearted entertainers really helps. I want to explore all genres as an actor.
Your upcoming projects?
Since my films are also releasing on OTT platforms, I’m getting offers from different languages. Currently, two Tamil films and two Telugu films are in the discussion stage.
