“Godari Gattupaina” Is A Super Cute Film With Strong Family Vibes : Hero Sumanth Prabhas
Young hero Sumanth Prabhas is all set to entertain audiences with the rural love and family drama Godari Gattupaina. Directed by Subhash Chandra and produced under the Red Puppet Productions banner, the film stars Nidhi Pradeep as the female lead, while Jagapathi Babu plays a pivotal role. The teaser, trailer, and songs have already received an overwhelming response. The movie is gearing up for a worldwide release on May 8. Speaking to the media ahead of the release, Sumanth Prabhas shared several exciting details about the film.
“I’m Not Cool About The Release”
When asked about the film’s cool and creative promotions and whether he himself was calm ahead of release, Sumanth laughed and said:
“I’m definitely not cool right now (laughs). My film is releasing after almost three years. We promoted my first film Mem Famous very aggressively too. Since this film is coming after a long gap, it feels like my debut all over again. To reach audiences today, promotions need to be innovative and fresh.”
He explained that while Mem Famous was rooted in Telangana village culture, Godari Gattupaina is set against the beautiful backdrop of the Godavari region and carries strong emotional depth.
“This is a super cute film packed with heartwarming emotions. Jagapathi Babu garu plays the central character. Recently, audiences have mostly seen him in intense and aggressive roles, but in this film, he appears in a lovable and relatable role reminiscent of classics like Subhalagnam and Family Circus. The scenes between us will be very entertaining and emotional.”
“The Godavari Dialect Was A Big Challenge”
Sumanth revealed that adapting to the Godavari slang was both exciting and challenging.
“I was born and brought up in Telangana, so I worked for nearly four months to perfect the Godavari dialect. I wanted people from that region to feel like I was genuinely speaking in their native accent.”
Why He Chose The Story
After the success of Mem Famous, Sumanth heard many scripts but was searching for something emotionally fresh and unique.
“At that time, director Subhash garu approached me. He has already made around 100 short films and his storytelling style is very cinematic. I instantly connected with the story he narrated. Since it’s a Godavari-based story, it felt challenging and exciting as an actor. The role also gave me a lot of scope for performance.”
About His Character
Sumanth plays an auto driver in the film, but he says the character is very different from the usual mass portrayals.
“Auto drivers are often shown as loud mass characters, but many of them are actually innocent and adorable. My character values friendships and family deeply. It’s a beautiful role. There’s also an auto race sequence in the film, and I practiced specially for it. The movie has fun, emotion, and strong character arcs throughout.”
“I Completely Surrendered To The Director”
Though Sumanth is also a filmmaker, he said he never interfered creatively on set.
“Subhash garu worked extremely hard on the script and wanted to present it in his own style. The moment I heard the story, I completely surrendered to his vision. I only told him to leave the promotions to me (laughs).”
Working With Devi Prasad
Speaking about veteran actor Devi Prasad, who plays his father in the film, Sumanth said:
“Devi Prasad garu gave me a lot of valuable suggestions and shared many experiences from his career. Working with him was a great learning experience.”
Music & Emotional Connect
The film’s music is composed by Nagavamsi, and Sumanth believes the soundtrack is one of the film’s major strengths.
“The songs have already received a fantastic response. The background score will also be very enjoyable and emotionally engaging.”
The Story Behind His Name
Sumanth shared an amusing story about how he got the name “Sumanth Prabhas.”
“My actual name is Sumanth. Back in the Facebook days, there was a trend of adding your favorite hero’s name to your profile. I added ‘Prabhas,’ and it just continued from there (laughs).”

Creative Promotions
The film’s promotional videos have been receiving excellent attention online.
“All those ideas are mine. I wrote and directed the promotional videos myself. Since the film is releasing in summer, we used a ‘cool’ concept for the ads. The same freshness and cool vibe audiences see in the promotions will also be felt in the movie.”
About Producer Abhinav
Sumanth praised producer Abhinav for supporting the film without compromises.
“Abhinav garu is a wonderful producer. He gave complete freedom to the director and ensured the film was made with high quality standards. We shot entirely in real locations. Jagapathi Babu garu was very impressed with the locations and was extremely friendly and supportive throughout the shoot.”
He also highlighted the strong performances from the cast:
“Jagapathi Babu garu and Nidhi have very powerful roles in the film. Their emotions and performances will stand out. Nidhi learned Telugu very well and performed brilliantly. The combination scenes between Jagapathi Babu garu and Laila garu are also wonderful. The film carries a beautiful family vibe throughout.”
On Missing Out On “Raju Weds Rambai”
Sumanth revealed that he was initially offered the story of Raju Weds Rambai.
“Sailu anna narrated the story to me and I really liked it. But since I had already done Mem Famous in a Telangana backdrop, I felt doing another similar film might create a repetitive image. I explained this to him. Later, Akhil did the film and it worked well for him. It’s always nice to see new talent succeed in the industry.”
Mahesh Babu’s Support
Speaking about Mahesh Babu supporting his debut film and now having one of his song titles used for this movie, Sumanth said:
“It’s purely coincidental, but it feels amazing. Mahesh Babu garu supporting my first film meant a lot to me. He even encouraged me by saying that if I have a good script, I should make a film under his banner. He has always supported new talent.”
Upcoming Projects
Sumanth concluded by revealing that he has already completed another film and plans to work continuously without long breaks going forward.
“One more film is already completed and its details will be announced soon. From now on, I want to do back-to-back films without taking long gaps.”
