Ghantasala Biopic: A Tribute to an Immortal Legend
The name Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao resonates deeply with music lovers, especially among Telugu audiences. Revered as an immortal singer, freedom fighter, and cultural icon, his legacy continues to inspire generations. The upcoming biopic, “Ghantasala the Great,” celebrates the life and achievements of this legendary figure.
A Star-Studded Biopic Honoring a Legend
Directed by CH Rama Rao and produced by CH Srimati Phani, this film is set to release on February 14. Krishna Chaitanya takes on the challenging role of Ghantasala, while his wife, Mridula, portrays Savitri, Ghantasala’s life partner. With a stellar cast that includes Suman, Subbaraya Sharma, Master Dixitulu, and Master Atulith, the movie promises a heartfelt depiction of Ghantasala’s journey.
The biopic’s release date poster was unveiled in a grand event held at Prasad Labs, Hyderabad, with former Vice President Shri Venkaiah Naidu as the chief guest. Esteemed personalities like People’s Star R Narayanamurthy, producer Ashok Kumar, and music director Madhavapeddi Suresh were present to honor the occasion.
Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s Endorsement
Speaking at the event, Venkaiah Naidu emphasized the cultural and historical importance of the biopic.
“I seldom watch movies, but I felt it was my duty to support this film. Ghantasala’s life story needs to be passed on to younger generations. His contributions as a freedom fighter, singer, and music director make him a role model. His Bhagavad Gita hymns left people mesmerized and filled with devotion.”
Naidu also lauded the film’s makers for their dedication to preserving Ghantasala’s legacy, saying:
“Creating a film about a legend like Ghantasala is no small feat. Congratulations to the producer, CH Phani, and the team for their noble effort.”
A Film Born from Passion, Not Profit
Director CH Rama Rao highlighted the unique nature of the project:
“No singer in Indian cinema has ever had a full-length biopic. Ghantasala’s life, from his humble beginnings to becoming the ‘Shatabdi Gayakudu’ (Singer of the Century), is a testament to humility, education, and hard work. This film captures the essence of his personality and contributions.”
Krishna Chaitanya, who plays the title role, expressed his gratitude:
“I am a singer, not an actor. Portraying Ghantasala was a tremendous honor. I hope audiences will appreciate this film and bless our team.”
A Legacy That Lives On
People’s Star R Narayanamurthy called for national recognition for Ghantasala’s contributions:
“Bharat Ratna should be conferred upon him. If MGR could receive it, why not Ghantasala or NTR?”
The film’s music, composed by Vasu Rao Saluri, pays homage to Ghantasala’s timeless melodies. The team, including editor Kranti (KR) and cinematographer Venu Muralidhar V, has meticulously crafted the project to do justice to the legend’s story.
Why Telugu Audiences Should Watch “Ghantasala the Great”
This biopic is more than just a film—it’s a tribute to an icon whose voice united people and whose life inspired countless individuals. Venkaiah Naidu aptly remarked:
“As long as music exists, Ghantasala will be remembered. Watching this biopic is a responsibility for Telugu audiences, as it reflects our history, culture, and pride.”
Mark your calendars for February 14 to witness the extraordinary life of Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao unfold on the big screen.
