Floral Tributes Mark NTR’s 103rd Birth Anniversary
The 103rd birth anniversary of legendary actor, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and Telugu pride, Late Sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) Garu, was observed with great reverence and enthusiasm in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Family members, film personalities, political leaders, admirers, and fans gathered at Film Nagar to pay floral tributes to the iconic leader’s statue and celebrate his enduring legacy.
The commemorative event witnessed the presence of Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation Chairman Bharath Bhushan Garu, Nandamuri Mohana Krishna Garu, Nandamuri Mohana Roopa Garu, Nandamuri Seemanthini Garu, Nandamuri Deepika, Telugu Film Producers Council Secretary Tummala Prasanna Kumar Garu, renowned writer Paruchuri Gopala Krishna Garu, actor and former minister Babu Mohan Garu, producer Tammareddy Bharadwaja Garu, Anil Vallabhaneni Garu, and several distinguished members of the film fraternity and NTR admirers.
As part of the celebrations and in keeping with NTR Garu’s philosophy of public service, food was distributed to nearly 1,000 people.
Speaking on the occasion, veteran writer Paruchuri Gopala Krishna Garu said, “Today is a memorable day for Telugu people across the world as we celebrate the birth anniversary of Annagaru NTR. He was the visionary who brought global recognition and immense pride to the Telugu community. NTR Garu was a divine blessing to the Telugu race, and his legacy and blessings will continue to inspire generations.”
Nandamuri Mohana Krishna Garu expressed his gratitude and pride, saying, “It fills me with immense happiness to hear people speak with such affection and admiration about my father, NTR Garu. He conquered hearts both as a legendary actor and as a visionary political leader. His welfare-oriented reforms transformed countless lives. He was far ahead of his time in advocating women’s rights and equality. I also thank the Telangana Government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Garu for unveiling the new NTR statue at Ameerpet.”
Former Corporator Kaja Suryanarayana Garu welcomed the installation of NTR Garu’s statue near Saradhi Studios and thanked the Telangana Government for honoring the legendary leader. He noted that NTR Garu provided opportunities and political direction to numerous leaders while elevating Telugu identity on the global stage.
Recalling his personal association with NTR Garu, former minister and actor Babu Mohan Garu said, “My admiration for NTR Garu began in childhood. Though I had no political background, it was NTR Garu who encouraged me to enter public life and guided me at every step. He always fulfilled the promises he made to the people and remains immortal in the hearts of millions.”
He further added that NTR Garu’s unwavering commitment to public service and helping those in need remains an inspiration even today.
Nandamuri Seemanthini Garu stated that NTR Garu dedicated his entire life to the welfare of people and firmly believed in equality for all citizens.
Nandamuri Mohana Roopa Garu remarked, “NTR Garu elevated the Telugu community to international recognition. There is hardly a Telugu person who does not admire or revere him. Generations may come and go, but there can only be one NTR. He transformed the political landscape of the state, stood firmly for public welfare, and always worked for the progress of society and the nation. He was selfless, promoted unity, and consistently supported the film industry and those in need.”
She also thanked the Telangana Government for honoring NTR Garu with a statue in Hyderabad and fondly remembered his extraordinary contributions on his 103rd birth anniversary.
Producer Tammareddy Bharadwaja Garu said that every Telugu person should feel proud that a towering personality like NTR Garu emerged from the Telugu land and inspired the entire nation through his achievements and leadership.
Anil Vallabhaneni Garu observed, “NTR Garu’s birth anniversary is celebrated like a festival in every Telugu household. He was a visionary who inspired generations through his contributions to cinema, politics, and public service. It is heartening to witness people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate his legacy.”
Telugu Film Producers Council Secretary Tummala Prasanna Kumar Garu described NTR Garu as one of the greatest actors in the history of world cinema.
“Long before the term ‘Pan-India Star’ became popular, NTR Garu had already attained that stature. Despite receiving opportunities from Bollywood, he chose to dedicate his life to Telugu cinema and Telugu people. He entered politics considering the people as his own family and worked tirelessly for their welfare. The fact that governments across political lines continue to honour him is a testament to his greatness. Celebrating his birth anniversary alongside his family members and fans is truly a joyous occasion. Jai NTR,” he said.
The event concluded with heartfelt tributes, remembrance of NTR Garu’s unparalleled contributions to cinema and public service, and a renewed commitment by his admirers to uphold the values and vision he championed throughout his remarkable life.
