First Look of Tamil-Telugu Historical Action Drama “Draupathi 2” Unveiled
After the success of the 2020 Tamil film Draupathi, actor Richard Rishi returns with its much-awaited sequel, Draupathi 2. The film is being mounted on a grand scale by Netaji Productions in association with Chola Chakravarthy and produced by G. M Film Corporation. Director Mohan G., known for Pazhaya Vannarapettai, Draupathi, Rudra Thandavam, and Bagasuran, is helming this ambitious project.
Marking the auspicious occasion of Sri Vinayaka Chavithi, the makers released the film’s first look poster today, creating strong anticipation for its theatrical release later this year in both Tamil and Telugu.
Set in the 14th century, the film delves into the blood-soaked reign of Hoysala emperor Veera Vallalar III, who ruled South India with Thiruvannamalai as his capital. It also portrays the courage of the Kadavarayas of Sendhamangalam, against the backdrop of the Mughal invasion of Tamil Nadu.
Around 75% of the shoot has already been completed, with major portions filmed in Mumbai, and additional key sequences shot in Senji, Thiruvannamalai, and Kerala. A unique aspect of the sequel is how its historical narrative ties back to the story of the first film, making Draupathi 2 a much-anticipated continuation of the franchise.
Actress Rakshana Indusudan plays the female lead, while the cast also includes Natti Natraj, Y. G. Mahendran, Nadodigal Barani, Saravana Subbiah, Vel Ramamoorthy, Siraj Johnny, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gaurang, Divi, Devayani Sharma, and Arunodayan in crucial roles.
The film’s dialogues are penned by Padma Chandrasekhar. Music is composed by Ghibran, cinematography by Philip R. Sundar, and editing by Devaraj. Art direction is handled by Kamalnathan, with choreography by Thanika Tony and stunt sequences designed by Action Santosh.
Promising a powerful blend of valor, sacrifice, and history, Draupathi 2 is set to transport audiences into an epic saga of kings and warriors. The film will release in Tamil and Telugu later this year.
