Director Siva Paladugu shared insights about his upcoming family entertainer Music Shop Murthy, starring Ajay Ghosh and Chandini Chowdary. The film, produced by Harsha Garapati and Ranga Rao Garapati under the banner of Fly High Cinemas, is set to release on June 14. Here are excerpts from the conversation.
Tell us about your background and film journey?
I hail from Vijayawada and have worked in the USA. Harsha became a good friend there. I pursued a diploma in direction in America, and my first film opportunity came very easily thanks to my friends, who are also the producers.
Why was Ajay Ghosh chosen for the story of Music Shop Murthy?
If I had told the story of a young guy, it would have been routine. To bring freshness, I crafted the story of Music Shop Murthy and felt Ajay Ghosh would be a great fit. He can convey emotions wonderfully. Even before Pushpa was released, I believed he could effortlessly portray this role.
What is the significance of Chandini Chowdary’s role?
The movie starts with Chandini Chowdary’s character, which creates a significant impact. Anjana, her character, brings a big change in Murthy’s life and drives the film forward. Chandini played Anjana brilliantly, and she received due prominence in this movie.
Did you do any research on the music for this film?
We conducted extensive research, covering music from past generations to today’s trends. Pawan provided wonderful music, and every song is situationally appropriate.
Were there any budget issues?
I did not face any budget problems, as my friends, who were the producers, trusted me and were willing to spend what was required. There was no wastage.
What kind of challenges did you face while filming your first movie?
I had a great team that helped me make the film. However, post-production work, release, and promotions were very challenging. I am thrilled that our film is finally coming out on June 14.
Of late, big films are not doing well. How confident are you in your film?
The distinction between small and big films is becoming irrelevant. While smaller films may not have grand openings, strong content and relatable emotions can lead to great success. We have faith in our film’s content and emotions, and we believe it will resonate with audiences.
Chandini Chowdary’s two films are releasing on the same day!
Chandini Chowdary’s Yevam is also releasing on June 14. However, our film’s genre is completely different, and the target audiences for both movies are distinct. Music Shop Murthy has family emotions that can be enjoyed with the entire family.
Is there any message conveyed with this movie?
I didn’t write this story to convey a specific message. I wanted to depict the grit, determination, and hard work of a 50-year-old man who failed to achieve his dream at 25. The journey is very emotional.
Tell us about your next film?
The fate of Music Shop Murthy will determine my next project. I will announce my future plans based on the result of this film.
Music Shop Murthy promises to be a film filled with heartwarming family emotions and compelling performances, making it a must-watch for audiences on June 14.
