“Dilruba” A New-Age Commercial Entertainer for Both Youth and Families – Kiran Abbavaram
After the success of KA, rising star Kiran Abbavaram is back with Dilruba, a film set to captivate both young audiences and families alike. Featuring Rukshar Dhillon as the female lead, Dilruba is jointly produced by Sivam Celluloids, renowned music label Saregama, and its production arm, Yoodle Film. The project is helmed by director Vishwa Karun, with Ravi, Jojo Jose, Rakesh Reddy, and Saregama as producers.
Scheduled for a grand theatrical release on March 14th, coinciding with the Holi festival, Dilruba has already generated buzz through its songs, teaser, and trailer. The film has garnered attention from diverse audiences, and in a recent interview, Kiran Abbavaram shared insights into the movie and what viewers can expect.
Confident in Dilruba’s Impact
“We recently watched the final cut of Dilruba, and we’re extremely confident about its outcome,” Kiran said. “The songs have received a fantastic response, and the teaser and trailer have effectively reached the audience. This movie holds strong respect for women, making it enjoyable for female viewers and general audiences alike. With a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes, there’s not a single dull moment. Viewers will leave the theater with the feeling of having watched a meaningful film.”
Addressing early expectations, Kiran explained, “Since this film was made before KA, some people might think it won’t offer anything new. While 10-20% of the scenes may feel familiar, the rest of the movie follows a fresh, new-age commercial storytelling approach.”
A Unique Take on Love and Relationships
“We were transparent about *Dilruba’s* story even before its release,” he stated. “The film beautifully captures the magic of love. What makes the protagonist unique is his perspective—he doesn’t casually use words like ‘sorry’ and ‘thank you’ because he believes in their true value. The movie also presents a fresh take on relationships, particularly how ex-lovers can remain friends and offer emotional support instead of being a source of conflict, which is often the case in mainstream cinema.”
Kiran added, “After the success of KA, we made significant improvements to Dilruba to ensure it delivers our best output.”
A Thought-Provoking Characterization
One of the major highlights of Dilruba is Sidhu’s characterization. “The film revolves around his emotional journey,” Kiran shared. “Much like the iconic characterizations in Puri Jagannadh’s films, Sidhu’s beliefs and dialogues will make audiences reflect. Why doesn’t he say sorry or thank you? What’s the reason behind his mindset? These are intriguing aspects that unfold in the film.”
Kiran also mentioned how working on Dilruba influenced his personal perspective. “I’ve evolved through this process. I now believe that overusing words like ‘sorry’ and ‘thank you’ can dilute their meaning. There’s a powerful dialogue in the movie—‘God stopped talking to a man after he cheated, but a true hero is one who acknowledges his mistakes.’ The film is packed with such thought-provoking moments.”
A Film for All Audiences
Emphasizing Dilruba’s universal appeal, Kiran said, “The movie will resonate with both youth and families. There’s not a single scene or dialogue that would make family audiences uncomfortable. Sidhu’s characterization is distinct from my previous roles. While my earlier performances were more subdued, in this film, I showcase a different side of myself.”
He also noted that some key sequences were deliberately kept out of the trailer to preserve the film’s impact. “The full intensity of *Dilruba* can only be experienced in theaters,” he assured.
The Journey Behind Dilruba
Sharing insights into the film’s journey, Kiran revealed, “We started this project three years ago, before movies like Dragon and Sankranthiki Vasthunam were released. However, those films hit theaters first. That being said, Dilruba maintains its unique identity and fresh approach.”
He also addressed the challenges of film promotion, particularly in other industries. “When Tamil films gain attention, they are heavily promoted in our market, but our films don’t receive the same support in Tamil Nadu. Nevertheless, I’m grateful for the backing from our Telugu audience.”
Future Projects and Vision
Since Dilruba carries his name, Kiran shared that he was deeply involved in the filmmaking process. “As a lead actor, I take full responsibility for the project. This year, I have two releases lined up. From next year onward, my goal is to release at least three films annually. Right after Dilruba, a K-ramp movie is in the works.”
Reflecting on his career choices, he admitted, “In the past, I did some films just for the sake of doing them, but I have no regrets. Moving forward, I want to focus on meaningful projects. After KA’s success, audiences now see me as someone who is genuinely striving to make quality films, and I intend to uphold that image.”
Kiran also revealed that he is currently working on four distinct films—“One is a cult love story, another is a youth entertainer, the third is a family drama, and the fourth revolves around the search for *Lanka Bindelu*, a vast subject that we are developing into a three-part movie.”
With Dilruba set to release soon, Kiran Abbavaram is confident that the film will strike a chord with audiences and further solidify his place in the industry.
