‘Devika & Danny’ Web Series Starring Ritu Varma Premieres June 6 on Jio Hotstar

Jio Hotstar, formerly Disney+ Hotstar, continues to strengthen its original content lineup with impactful storytelling. As part of its Hotstar Specials slate, the platform is set to release Devika & Danny, a heartwarming and inspiring web series, premiering on June 6, 2025.
Starring Ritu Varma, Surya Vasistta, Siva Kandukuri, and Subbaraju in lead roles, the series also features an ensemble cast including Kovai Sarala, Sonia Singh, Gokaraju Ramana, Sivanarayana, Viva Harsha, Shanmukh, Abhinaya Sri, Mounika Reddy, and Ishwarya Vullingal. The show is directed by B. Kishore and produced by Sudhakar Chaganti under the Joy Films banner.
Ritu Varma: “This Story Gave Me Purpose”
At the Hyderabad press meet held to promote the series, lead actress Ritu Varma expressed her excitement about being part of a project that promotes women’s empowerment.
“I’ve been waiting to do a web series for quite some time, but I wanted it to be something unique and meaningful. Devika & Danny came to me at just the right moment. It’s a sincere, heartfelt story and I consider myself lucky to be part of it,” she said.
Praising the production team, she added, “A big thank you to our producer Sudhakar Garu for believing in this story and launching Joy Films with the vision of delivering high-quality content. Director Kishore Garu is focused and fun to work with, and our DOP Venkat Dilip is a true perfectionist—his visuals speak volumes.”
Speaking about her co-stars, Ritu said, “Surya, who plays Danny, is incredibly dedicated, and Siva Kandukuri was the perfect Subbu. I’m also thankful to Subbaraju Garu, Kovai Sarala Garu, and our entire cast and crew. Special mention to Nandini, whose behind-the-scenes work was invaluable. Many young women are told they can’t follow their dreams—this series aims to inspire them with hope and confidence.”
Surya Vasistta: “Danny’s Role is Full of Layers”
Actor Surya Vasistta shared that the series explores how people, especially women, break societal limitations and evolve.
“In small towns, women often face strict boundaries. Devika & Danny shows how a woman’s journey transforms once she begins to push past those restrictions. Danny and Subbu play pivotal roles in that evolution,” he explained.
Surya also praised his team: “Producer Sudhakar Garu gave us tremendous support, and working with Kishore Garu felt like being with family. Cinematographer Dilip Garu did an exceptional job with the visuals. Ritu Varma was a brilliant co-actor, and Siva Kandukuri became like a brother during the shoot.”
Siva Kandukuri: “This is Clean, Meaningful Entertainment”
Siva Kandukuri, who plays Subbu, addressed a common perception around web series.
“Nowadays, web series are often associated with adult content. But Devika & Danny stands out with its clean, meaningful narrative. I’m thankful to Jio Hotstar for supporting such wholesome content and to Sudhakar Garu for believing in the script,” said Siva.
“Subbu is a humorous character who adds a light touch to the story. Every character contributes to Devika’s personal growth. I’m grateful to director Kishore Garu for trusting me, and to DOP Venkat Dilip Garu for showcasing us so well. Ritu and Surya have delivered powerful performances.”

Producer Sudhakar Chaganti expressed pride in bringing this seven-episode series to life.

Director B. Kishore, known for Sreekaram, spoke about the joy of working on this project.
“Devika & Danny is a story that began with writer Deepak Raj. It evolved into something special with the involvement of Ritu Varma, Surya, Siva Kandukuri, and Subbaraju Garu. From stunning visuals by DOP Venkat Dilip Garu to the emotional score by music director Jai Krish and seamless editing by Karthik, every element clicked,” said Kishore.

The press meet was also attended by Mounika, Nandini, cinematographer Venkat C. Dilip, music director Jai Krish, and editor Karthik, who shared their excitement and pride in being part of this heartfelt series.
