“Dacoit blends thrilling action with an unforgettable love story” – Adivi Sesh
After delivering back-to-back pan-India blockbusters, Adivi Sesh is all set to captivate audiences once again with his upcoming pan-India action-romantic thriller Dacoit. Directed by debutant Shaniel Deo, the film stars Mrunal Thakur as the female lead, with Anurag Kashyap playing a pivotal role.
Presented by Annapurna Studios and produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, with Suniel Narang as co-producer, the film has already generated massive buzz through its teaser, trailer, and songs. Dacoit is slated for a grand theatrical release on April 10.
Speaking at a press meet, Adivi Sesh shared several exciting insights about the film:
A Love Story with a Powerful Twist
“The action in Dacoit will thrill audiences, but the love story will stay with them,” says Sesh. “People will be pleasantly surprised to see action unfold within a love story.”
Unlike his previous films, where romance played a supporting role, Dacoit places love at its core. “This time, the entire narrative is driven by the love story. All emotions in the film feel organic and deeply rooted.”
Unique Inspiration Behind the Story
Sesh revealed that the story originated from a striking visual metaphor:
“A small flower blooming through a crack in a concrete pavement on a busy road. That image sparked the idea. From there, we built an intense story that blends anger, action, and love.”
Breaking Personal Barriers
For the first time, Sesh steps into dance sequences.
“I was once told I was too tall to dance, and that stuck with me. I created that limitation for myself. But for this film, I broke out of it,” he shares.
He also prepared extensively for his role, even adopting the Madanapalle dialect in real life.
On the Film’s Scale and Challenges
The film features high-intensity action sequences shot in extreme conditions.
“Chases and stunts are always tough. I even suffered a knee injury, which delayed the film. We shot on mountains and completed the climax in 45-degree heat. These are more raw stunts than typical fights.”

Collaboration & Music
Sesh expressed his excitement about working with composer Bheems Ceciroleo:
“We wanted a fresh musical vibe, and even Bheems felt this was unlike his previous work.”
He also mentioned that one of the songs gives a vibe similar to compositions by A. R. Rahman.
Working with Mrunal Thakur
Praising his co-star, Sesh said:
“Mrunal is an exceptional actress. She lives the emotions even off-screen. Watching her perform pushed me to elevate my own performance.”
On Anurag Kashyap’s Role
Sesh recalled how Kashyap came on board:
“We met him during an event in Hyderabad. Interestingly, he already knew about the project from Supriya garu. He immediately agreed to hear the story, and we narrated it in a tent there itself. He’s incredibly honest.”
Producer & Team Effort
Calling Supriya Yarlagadda the backbone of the film, Sesh said:
“A 100-day shoot is like conducting 100 weddings—full of challenges and egos. A producer handles all that patiently, and Supriya garu did it brilliantly.”
On Future Plans
After Dacoit and Goodachari 2, Sesh plans to take a break from writing:
“I want to recharge emotionally and work on other directors’ visions for a while.”
Personal Reflections
Sesh admits he is drawn to broken love stories:
“That’s why films like Devdas remain timeless. My own experiences influence my writing. My first heartbreak at 19 took nearly a decade to process. I’ve channelled that emotion into my character in this film.”
Fitness & Lifestyle Secret
When asked about his youthful appearance, Sesh shared with a smile:
“I don’t smoke or drink, and I’m vegetarian. Growing up in the US, I’m also not used to very spicy food.”
