The highly anticipated Pan-India action film Coolie, starring Superstar Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is being produced by Kalanithi Maran under the prestigious Sun Pictures banner. The film features King Nagarjuna in a crucial role, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Aamir Khan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan. With the promotional content already creating a huge buzz, the film is slated for a grand theatrical release in Telugu states on August 14, through Asian Multiplex Pvt. Ltd. led by D. Suresh Babu, Dil Raju, Sunil Narang, and Bharat Narang.

Can you tell us about your character in Coolie?
Working with Rajinikanth sir is a blessing. It’s been a great experience. Personally, I connected deeply with this character. I strongly believe the audience—especially women—will also relate to it. As a woman, I found the role emotionally compelling. The director designed my character beautifully.
Is it true that you play Rajinikanth’s daughter in the film?
No, I play Sathyaraj sir’s daughter, not Rajinikanth sir’s.
How was it sharing screen space with stars like Nagarjuna and Upendra?
It was an amazing experience. I’ve worked with many stars before, but this film is unique. It’s rare for an actor to share screen space with so many superstars in one film. This is a truly special project.
What aspect of the script impressed you the most when Lokesh Kanagaraj narrated it?
I actually met him initially for a music album. During that time, he surprisingly discussed this character with me. Lokesh sir’s films are known for their dark tones, action, and guns. But the strong female character he wrote in this movie truly stood out to me.
Rajinikanth sir’s character and mine will definitely strike an emotional chord with family audiences.
Tell us about Nagarjuna’s character?
It’s going to be incredible. He plays a villain for the first time, which will be a huge surprise for the Telugu audience.
Your thoughts on working with director Lokesh Kanagaraj?
He’s a director with a clear vision. He knows exactly what he wants and communicates it perfectly. Working with him has been a joyful experience.
Do you have scenes with Aamir Khan?
Yes, I do. Aamir sir and his family are close family friends. They’ve played an important part during a key phase in my life. Working with him was a very special experience.
About the producers?
This film was made on a massive scale. They did not compromise at all when it came to budget or quality required by the story.
Have you seen the final version of the movie?
Not fully. I’ve completed dubbing and watched a few portions. From what I’ve seen so far, it’s absolutely brilliant.

I’ve known Anirudh for a long time and I’m so proud of him. His music always elevates a film, and in this one, he’s delivered brilliant work.
About DOP Girish?
Girish sir is a director’s DOP. He understands the director’s vision and brings it to life visually. His work in Vikram was appreciated by all. He’s created some amazing visuals in this film as well.
Did Rajinikanth sir share any memories about his old days or friendship with Kamal Haasan?
Yes, he shared a lot about those times, including his bond with my father and their working styles. Their friendship is truly unique.
Do you have any dream roles?
Nothing specific as a “dream role”, but since I’m a musician, I’d love to play a musician on screen someday.
You’ve had a long career as a heroine. How do you look back on this journey?
I consider it all a blessing. I’ve always enjoyed my work and never worried much about the future. I focus on doing justice to whatever project I take up. That hasn’t changed even today.
How would you describe Coolie in one line?
Coolie is a full-on entertainer. It has spectacular action, an emotional core, and a strong story. Audiences will definitely enjoy it.
Any upcoming projects?
Last year was completely occupied with Coolie. I’m currently listening to new scripts. I’m eager to work with new directors and writers. I’ve heard a few stories in Telugu, and an announcement will be made soon.
