Kumari Samhita Brahmandam mesmerized audiences in her Kuchipudi Arangetram, making a grand entry as Satya Bhama. The debut performance of the Nritya Ratna Smt. Rohini Kandala’s disciple, organized by Lasyanga Kuchipudi School, Sainik Puri, at Rabindra Bharati on Sunday, was a spectacular celebration of classical dance.
Samhita opened her performance with the timeless “Sakala Ganadhipa” composed by Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna, showcasing remarkable poise and maturity for a debutante. Despite training as an airline pilot, Samhita has already graced over 70 dance platforms, and her Arangetram received a well-deserved standing ovation.
Her rendition of “Krishna Janana Shabdam” in Mohana Ragam Aadi Talam was especially captivating, highlighting her precise gestures and expressive abhinaya. Other notable performances included “Kanjadalayatakshi” by Muthuswamy Dikshitar and “Shanmukha Tarangam”, which drew attention with their intricate choreography and emotive storytelling. Samhita concluded her debut with “Vanamamalai Varadachari Javali” in ragamalika, followed by a vibrant Thillana in Paras Ragam, leaving the audience enthralled.
The stage was beautifully supported by her Natya Guru Smt. Rohini Kandala’s expert nattuvangam and Mr. Mantha Srinivas’s galam samhitha. Musical accompaniment by Sri Siripalli Nageswara Rao (mridangam), Sri K. Anil Kumar (violin), Sri Uma Venkateswarlu (flute), and Dr. R. Srikanth, enhanced with special effects, added depth and charm to the presentation. Stage aesthetics, including Rangoddipanam by Mr. Basavaraj and makeup by Mr. Ravula Suresh, further elevated the performance.

During the post-performance meeting, several dignitaries graced the occasion, including Central Sangeet Natak Akademi awardees Dr. Bhagavathula Sethuram and Dr. Kalakrishna, Telugu University Registrar Dr. Kotla Hanumantha Rao, Kala Patrika Editor Dr. Mohammad Rafee, Telugu University Dean Dr. Vanaja Uday, and eminent dance gurus Dr. Yashoda Thakur and Dr. P. Rama Devi. They lauded Samhita’s talent, emphasizing that guidance from a skilled guru like Smt. Rohini Kandala can shape a dancer’s future. The speakers commended Samhita for her exceptional artistry and noted her potential to become a distinguished performer in the years to come.
Demonstrating deep respect and gratitude, Samhita performed a traditional Guru Puja, honoring her Natya Guru, Smt. Rohini Kandala. Commentary for the event was provided by Smt. Sudhamala and Smt. Keertana Reddy. Blessings were bestowed by Brahmandam Parthasaradhi and Udayadurga, while her parents, Lakshmi Lavanya and Sarath Chandra Brahmandam, coordinated the program seamlessly.
