Bigg Boss 9 Accused of Protecting Tanuja Yet Again in Episode 70
Host Nagarjuna Akkineni has been facing continuous trolling for allegedly favouring contestant Tanuja during the weekend episodes of Bigg Boss 9. Despite repeated criticism from viewers, neither the show organizers nor Nagarjuna seem to have altered their approach. Episode 70 once again sparked debate, as many felt Nagarjuna went soft on Tanuja even when the situation demanded a stronger reprimand.
During the episode, Nagarjuna addressed Tanuja’s allegations that Demon Pawan manhandled her and used force to push her. However, the video playback clearly showed a different picture. Contrary to her claims, Pawan did not push Tanuja; he merely made slight contact during the task. On the other hand, the footage revealed that Tanuja herself had pushed Pawan earlier, though she insisted she didn’t. While she appeared ready to apologize for the first incident, she denied responsibility for the second.
Although Nagarjuna questioned Tanuja about her contradictory statements, viewers felt he stopped short of giving her a firm warning. Instead, at one point, he even checked with Kalyan whether he lost the task because of Tanuja—an exchange that once again made her emotional and overthink the situation. Rather than calling her out clearly, Nagarjuna encouraged her to channel her emotions positively, which many found unnecessary.
Tanuja has increasingly been seen as Bigg Boss’ “favourite contestant,” a perception strengthened yet again in this episode. When she stated that no one in the house supported her, the audience strongly disagreed, pointing out that she indeed has significant support. Even then, Nagarjuna suggested she reflect on the support system she has inside the house.
Overall, viewers were disappointed that every moment that warranted a strict warning ended up being toned down by both the host and the showrunners. If this pattern continues, many believe Tanuja is being positioned to win the season—regardless of how well the other contestants are performing.
