“Bhuvaneswari Leads Thalassemia Run in Vizag, Spreads Hope & Awareness”
“Heartfelt Thanks to Everyone Who Supported and Made the Thalassemia Run a Grand Success”: NTR Trust Managing Trustee Smt. Nara Bhuvaneswari
Under the aegis of the NTR Trust, a run was organized on Visakhapatnam’s RK Beach Road to raise awareness about Thalassemia. The event was inaugurated by Smt. Nara Bhuvaneswari, wife of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Managing Trustee of NTR Trust. Olympic medalist Karnam Malleswari attended as the chief guest. Music director S.S. Thaman, Home Minister Anitha, NTR Trust CEO K. Rajendrakumar, and several other dignitaries participated in the event. A large number of city residents enthusiastically took part and made the run a grand success. Later, prizes were distributed to the winners of the run, and international athletes were also felicitated. A grand musical night followed the event.
Smt. Nara Bhuvaneswari said,
“My heartfelt greetings to every individual who participated in the Thalassemia Run. I am truly delighted that Olympic medalist Karnam Malleswari garu graced this event as the chief guest. When we approached her about raising awareness for Thalassemia, she immediately agreed to join. I sincerely thank her.
During trust meetings, I often saw many mothers waiting with their little children. When I asked why they were there, they requested help for blood and medicines related to Thalassemia. That’s where this journey began. As part of this journey, we earlier conducted a musical night in Vijayawada. When I approached Thaman garu, he offered to work for our trust for free, purely for the sake of Thalassemia-affected children. I sincerely thank him for that.
Generous donors like him are placing their trust in us and encouraging us to continue these noble initiatives. The NTR Trust believes that serving humanity is equivalent to serving God. We are undertaking numerous service activities for the public. So far, we’ve provided blood to over 8 lakh needy individuals, conducted more than 15,000 health camps, and through the Sanjeevani Free Clinic, delivered medical services to lakhs of people. We are also offering scholarships to thousands of financially underprivileged students and promoting the ‘Stree Shakti’ (Women Empowerment) initiative.
Using part of the donations received from the music night for Thalassemia, we established a 25-bed center where treatment is being provided to children. Besides blood, medicines cost Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 per child, which we are also covering. Standing by someone in distress is a noble form of charity. Offering hope gives immense comfort and courage to the afflicted.
Every step you took in this run gave hope to children suffering from Thalassemia. It’s heartening to see that you all stood in solidarity with the patients. Let us all participate in such service activities. Your presence today has given us immense strength. The people believe in us, and we are ready to take many more great initiatives forward.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every donor, media person, police officer, government official, and everyone who made this event successful. Jai Hind.”
