‘Bhairavam’ is a film filled with emotions that everyone can relate to : Hero Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas
The highly anticipated action thriller Bhairava starring Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas, Manchu Manoj, and Nara Rohith is gaining strong momentum with a great response to its teaser, songs, and promotional content. Directed by Vijay Kanakamedala and produced grandly by K.K. Radhamohan under the Sri Sathya Sai Arts banner, the film is being presented by Dr. Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios. Bhairava is gearing up for a massive summer release on May 30. Speaking at a press meet, hero Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas shared insights about the movie.
Why did you choose Vijay Kanakamedala as the director for this film?
“I have made a name for myself as a commercial hero. Later, I tried some stylish films. But I kept wondering if I was connecting with the mass audience. I wanted to do a rural story that people could relate to. When I came across this story, I felt it should be presented in a way that suits our sensibilities. Vijay sir was the perfect fit for that. I’ve also done a few remakes and learned from them. Rakshasudu was a great success for me. But Bhairava should not be seen as a remake—this is a straight film. Vijay sir made all the necessary changes for Telugu audiences and crafted it wonderfully. The film is full of relatable emotions.”
About Rohith and Manchu Manoj’s roles?
“Both Rohith and Manoj are playing very important characters. We first approached Rohith sir, and he immediately agreed after hearing the character. Later, when we saw Manoj garu in the Mirai poster, we felt he would be perfect for this role and approached him. He too liked the script. Both of them perfectly match their characters and were very excited about the film.”
“This film has very fresh casting. All three of us—me, Rohith, and Manoj—have taken a break from films. It’s been almost four years since my last release. So, when audiences see these characters, they will feel a fresh energy.”
About Athithi Shankar?
“Athithi Shankar is a very nice and energetic person. She blended well with all of us. She’s a great actor, singer, and dancer. Very talented.”
There’s a trance-like shot in the trailer. Can you talk about that?
“That’s actually one of my favorite parts. It’s used wonderfully in the story and will be a big surprise that audiences will thoroughly enjoy. The film delivers a strong emotional impact.”
“The treatment of this film is very fresh. Even if you’ve seen the Tamil version, you will still enjoy this one. We only retained the soul of that version and redesigned everything else to suit Telugu audiences beautifully.”
“I made Bhairava for every audience member who has supported and liked me. This will be a great cinematic experience and offer a powerful theatrical impact.”
Your story choices are quite unique. Does your father influence your selection?
“I personally choose the story and then take my father’s opinion. His judgment is very good. I prefer doing films that offer a true theatrical experience because I grew up watching such films. When we go to the theater, we should forget our troubles. Even commercial films need to have something new. Films like Alludu Seenu, Jaya Janaki Nayaka—though commercial, all had their own uniqueness. I try to bring something new to every film.”
You’re known as one of the best dancers in the industry. Can we expect dance moments in this film?
“Absolutely. There are two dance songs in this film. The Gicchamake song has a perfect festive vibe. There’s another dance number too. I got to showcase some good dance moves.”

“Sricharan Pakala gave a fantastic album. He worked really hard for this film. The background score is extraordinary and features a fresh sound.”
“Harika Vedant’s cinematography is outstanding. The audience will have a great visual experience.”
After a four-year gap, what kind of scripts did you work on?
“I approved the Haindava script nearly three years ago. It’s a project I’m very passionate about. After Haindava and Tyson Naidu, I didn’t plan to do anything else. But during that process, Bhairava and Kishkindapuri came my way and excited me a lot. Kishkindapuri is a very unique genre film and will give audiences a new experience.”
Of all the genres you’ve worked in, which is your favorite?
“I enjoy working on every film. I feel equally attached to each of them.”
About the title Bhairava?
“In this film, the hero worships Kalabhairava. That’s where the title comes from.”
“We even built a massive temple set for this movie, which looks extremely realistic. Hats off to our art director Brahma Kadali garu.”
About producer Radha Mohan?
“He’s one of my favorite producers and was the first person to believe in me. I wanted to do 2–3 projects with him, but it didn’t happen until now. Everything aligned perfectly for this film. He’s a producer who makes films with a lot of passion.”
Rumors say you’re doing a film with Puri Jagannadh. Is that true?
“We met once or twice. We’ll definitely plan something.”
“I always aim to do different kinds of films. That’s why I chose Bhairava, Tyson Naidu, Haindava, and Kishkindapuri. All four are unique in their own way and will give audiences a fresh experience.”
