TV anchor-turned-actor Pradeep Machiraju‘s much-awaited film ‘Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi’ is a unique love and family entertainer directed by the young and talented duo Nithin and Bharat. Produced under the Monks & Monkeys banner, the exciting film stars Deepika Pilli as the female lead. The teaser, trailer, and songs have already received a fantastic response. Releasing on April 11th, this film is set to be one of the biggest summer attractions. On this occasion, hero Pradeep Machiraju shared some insights about the film during a media interaction.
Pradeep, how has your journey from anchor to actor been?
I feel very lucky. Good opportunities came at the right time, and I received great support from the audience. I’ve had the chance to work innovatively as an RJ, television anchor, and now as an actor. Now, I got the opportunity to tell a good story. Looking back, I feel more responsibility now. I see this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Why did you and your friends decide to produce this movie together?
After the first film, we planned to do another movie with strong content. We listened to a lot of scripts and luckily stopped at this one. We worked on it from the foundation level, which is why it took some time. All of us, being passionate about cinema, came together and created this opportunity ourselves.
What kind of film is ‘Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi’?
From the first scene to the last chart, it’s a proper entertainer. It’s a feel-good summer film that families can sit together and enjoy. It delivers exactly the kind of content family audiences expect from us. People will walk into theatres and have a good time.
Tell us about the story of the film?
The story itself is the entertainment. It feels like a fairytale. Once upon a time, in a village, there lived a girl. A civil engineer visits that village, where there are certain traditions and rules. How the hero gets caught between these rules is presented in a very interesting way.
What’s the significance of the title ‘Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi’?
This is a title from Pawan Kalyan’s debut film. Coincidentally, we thought of the same title for our story. Doing a movie with such an iconic title added to our responsibility. We made sure to handle it with care. It’s a beautiful, authentic Telugu film that justifies the title. After watching the film, audiences will feel the title is perfect. It’s a blessing to do a movie with a title associated with Pawan Kalyan garu.
Tell us about your character in the film?
I play the role of Krishna, a very smart character. The more frustrated I get in the film, the more the audience will be entertained. The character’s struggles are portrayed in a very interesting way. Viewers will enjoy it a lot. We were very cautious with the script. Directors Nithin and Bharat have known me for a long time and designed the role beautifully to suit my timing.
About the heroine Deepika Pilli?
We wanted a Telugu girl for the heroine’s role. After auditions, look tests, and workshops, we finalized Deepika. She has performed brilliantly. Audiences will definitely be surprised by her performance.
About Radhan’s music?
The film has a great scope for music. Each song is in a different genre. Radhan has delivered a beautiful album. The music will definitely impress the audience. The background score is also superb. We’ve made this film with high quality. DOP Balu Reddy has given beautiful visuals. The film will be excellent in terms of quality.
Your thoughts on directors Nithin and Bharat?
They truly surprised me. They don’t feel like debut directors at all. They will definitely be an inspiration for many young directors. After watching the first copy, I never felt like I was working with newcomers. They’ve made the film wonderfully.
The comedy in this film flows very naturally. The story is thoroughly entertaining. Even Brahmanandam garu complimented us, saying it had been a long time since he worked on a truly comedic film.
Censor board members said this is a film that people will happily laugh at after a long time. That was the biggest compliment for us. The film received a U/A certificate with no cuts. For two and a half hours, audiences can sit back and laugh their hearts out.
Regarding the release by Mythri Movie Makers?
They watched the film and closed the deal immediately after it was completed. They locked the release date themselves, saying this is a must-watch summer family entertainer. That gave us even more confidence.
