Akhanda 2 Release Postponed; Makers Cite Post-Production Delays
As anticipated by trade circles, the release of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much-awaited sequel Akhanda 2 has officially been postponed. The film, which was earlier scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 25, now stands deferred, with the team yet to announce a fresh release date. The makers issued an official statement confirming the development.
Industry sources had already predicted the move, given that Pawan Kalyan’s OG is eyeing the same September 25 release slot.
Explaining the decision, the production house stated that the film requires more time for re-recording, VFX, and other post-production work to ensure a superior cinematic experience. They assured fans that the delay would be worthwhile, promising that the combination of Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu will deliver beyond expectations. Speculation suggests the team may target a December release window, though no official confirmation has been made.
Akhanda 2 is the sequel to the 2021 blockbuster fantasy drama Akhanda, which featured Balakrishna, Pragya Jaiswal, Jagapathi Babu, and Srikanth in key roles. The first film struck a strong chord with audiences across all segments and went on to become one of the biggest post-pandemic successes. Four years later, the sequel carries tremendous buzz and is expected to open on a strong note.
The recently released teaser has already heightened anticipation, with fans eagerly awaiting the soundtrack composed by SS Thaman.
