Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu’s Akhanda 2 is now locked for a December 12 release, with paid premieres planned for the evening of December 11. An official confirmation is expected shortly. Given the film’s massive visibility in the media over the last few days, December 12 has turned out to be an ideal date, and the team is hoping for a strong opening.
However, the North American market will take a hit due to the rescheduled release. For Balakrishna–Boyapati films, though, the primary revenue zone has always been the Telugu states, not overseas. Earlier pre-sales for the original date were underwhelming, so expectations remained low until the final talk could emerge.
Now the key question is: Will sympathy contribute to the Day 1 numbers?
Some industry observers feel the film’s recent financial hurdles, which caused the delay, might generate a short-term sympathy push. But the big doubt remains — do audiences really care about production-related troubles? This isn’t the kind of controversy that typically triggers a strong emotional response or a sympathy wave for Balakrishna.
