Directed by MS Raju and produced by Kashi Visalakshi Balusu under the Sri Adi Varaha Productions banner, ‘Agadha’ features Shravan Reddy, Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Ulka Gupta, Jovika Vijayakumar, Bhanu Chander, Shiju, Vanitha Vijayakumar, Roshan Basheer, Shreya Rani Reddy, Viva Raghava, Robert Master, Arna Muller and Kanakava in key roles. The divine mystic thriller is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on August 14. Ahead of its release, hero Shravan Reddy interacted with the media and shared interesting insights about his character, his experience working with director MS Raju, the film’s VFX, sequel possibilities and his upcoming projects.
Why was there a long gap after ‘Dirty Hari’?
‘Dirty Hari’ was released during the COVID-19 pandemic. Though it had a direct OTT release, the film received a very good response from the audience. I received several offers around that time too. However, the pandemic and lockdowns caused delays.
I spent almost a year working on ‘Mangalavaaram’. Later, MS Raju Garu gave me the opportunity to be part of ‘Agadha’. I am very happy that I got to work with him again.
Tell us about your character in ‘Agadha’.
My character in ‘Agadha’ is completely different from the role I played in ‘Dirty Hari’. It has multiple dimensions and several shades. I really enjoyed playing such a layered character.
I feel fortunate that a visionary filmmaker like MS Raju Garu gave me another opportunity. ‘Agadha’ was a challenging and completely different experience for me.
I believe ‘Agadha’ will be a brilliant divine mystic thriller. The film has plenty of horror and thrilling elements. MS Raju Garu always tries to present something fresh and makes sure there is an interesting hook point in his films.
The trailer gives the impression that you are playing a negative character. Is that true?
There is no outright negative character in the film. Every character behaves according to the situations they encounter. The story revolves around the conflict between good and evil, and God and evil forces.
I did not have much time for preparation. I joined the sets just four days after the story was narrated to me. I simply followed MS Raju Garu’s instructions and performed accordingly. In a way, most of my preparation happened on the sets itself.
What are your expectations from ‘Agadha’ and your character?
How can I not have expectations? (Laughs.) ‘Dirty Hari’ received a good response on OTT, but for a hero, a theatrical success and box-office numbers are very important.
I am hoping that ‘Agadha’ will give me that much-awaited box-office success and establish me strongly as a theatrical hero.
How was your experience working with MS Raju Garu?
The stories and characters that MS Raju Garu created for both ‘Dirty Hari’ and ‘Agadha’ feel very fresh and unique to me.
When I saw him working on the sets of ‘Agadha’, I felt that he was a completely different person. His passion and dedication towards cinema are incredible. I honestly cannot match the level of passion and commitment he brings to filmmaking.
How is the VFX work in ‘Agadha’?
‘Agadha’ was primarily shot in natural locations. We also created a few sets wherever necessary. These sets helped establish the mystic and horror atmosphere required for the story.
The VFX work is very neat and has been designed to create a strong visual impact. I believe the audience will enjoy the overall experience on the big screen.
Can we expect a sequel or prequel to ‘Agadha’?
Films like ‘Agadha’ definitely have the scope for a sequel or prequel. Even if it is not specifically titled ‘Part 2’, the world and story can be expanded further.

Tell us about your current and upcoming projects.
I am currently working on a film directed by Chandra, who has previously worked with the Raj & DK team. We have already completed the first schedule in Kashmir.
Apart from that, a few other projects are currently in the discussion stage. I will announce more details at the appropriate time.
What kind of roles are you looking for?
I want to play characters that have importance and substance. My role in ‘Agadha’ is very different from what I have done previously.
As an actor, I always want to experiment with new characters and explore different genres. I would like to take up roles that challenge me and allow me to showcase different shades of my acting.
