Director Srinu Vaitla Reflects on 25 Years of Filmmaking: “A Journey Filled with Surprises”
Celebrated filmmaker Srinu Vaitla recently expressed his immense gratitude as he marked 25 glorious years in the film industry. Known for delivering blockbuster hits and redefining entertainment in Telugu cinema, Vaitla took a nostalgic trip down memory lane during a press meet. Here’s what the acclaimed director had to share about his career milestones, challenges, and future aspirations.
A Memorable Journey
“Completing 25 years as a director is truly a beautiful journey. I’ve witnessed unimaginable highs in my career. Filmmaking was my passion since childhood, but I never anticipated sustaining this dream for over two decades. I owe it all to the audience, media, producers, actors, and technicians who stood by me,” said Vaitla, who debuted with Neekosam.
The Beginning with ‘Neekosam’
Srinu Vaitla‘s career kickstarted with Neekosam, featuring Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja. Though the project faced initial hurdles, the film eventually saw the light of day, earning rave reviews and bagging seven Nandi Awards.
“Neekosam was my stepping stone. Ravi Teja was a friend and a firm believer in my talent. Despite setbacks during production, his encouragement kept me going. I wrote a story with a tight budget in mind, and thanks to the support of new producers, the project began. Industry stalwarts like Nagarjuna and Ramoji Rao played pivotal roles in the film’s release and success. Ramoji Rao not only appreciated the film but also ensured its theatrical release under his banner. His unwavering belief in good cinema remains etched in my memory,” Srinu Vaitla recounted.

Reflecting on the landmark moments of his career, Vaitla listed five films that defined his journey:
