“My Character Will Stay With the Audience”: Kamakshi Bhaskarla
“My character in 12A Railway Colony will stay with the audience. They will constantly feel the excitement of what happens next,” says actress Kamakshi Bhaskarla.
The upcoming thriller 12A Railway Colony, starring Allari Naresh, is generating strong buzz with its gripping promotional content. Directed by debutant Nani Kesaragadda under the supervision of Polimera series creator Dr. Anil Vishwanath, the film is produced by Srinivasa Chitturi under the Srinivasa Silver Screen banner, with Pawan Kumar presenting it.
Kamakshi Bhaskarla plays the female lead, and the film is set for release on November 21. During a press meet, she shared key insights about the project.
You’ve been a part of every project associated with Anil garu. How did this collaboration begin?
“Our journey started with Polimera. I’ve always been passionate about both acting and writing. During Polimera, I asked Anil garu if I could work in the direction department, and that’s how our collaboration continued.
My performance in Polimera was widely appreciated—people even wrote a special paragraph just for my role. Anil garu strongly believes that good performers must get good roles, which is why I’ve been part of all his films so far.”
If Anil garu wrote the story, why didn’t he direct this one?
“After Polimera, he committed to several projects. Director Nani garu has had a great rapport with us since then. Under Anil garu’s supervision, Nani garu directed this film, and he executed it wonderfully.”
Tell us about your character in 12A Railway Colony.
“I play Aaradhana, the pair to Naresh garu. Her background, her lifestyle, the kind of person she is—everything is very interesting. She’s extremely focused on her work, and the story explores how love enters such a life and what changes it brings.
Aaradhana is crucial to the film—without her, the story doesn’t exist. Audiences will definitely remember my character once they watch the movie. Working with Allari Naresh garu is a big milestone for my career.
This is a gripping thriller, and the audience will constantly be eager to know what happens next.”
How was it working with Allari Naresh again?
“I previously acted with Naresh garu in Itlu Maredumilli. I’ve known him personally since childhood—he’s a very calm and composed person. We mostly talk about films whenever we meet. He’s an exceptional actor, and I learned a lot from him.”
You’ve been doing lead roles as well as strong supporting roles. How do you see this balance?
“Laila and Dacoit were signed before this film. After that, I worked on Show Time with Naveen Chandra garu, although Show Time happened to release first.
From the outside, people may feel I play a heroine in one film and an important supporting role in another. But I believe in doing strong, impactful characters, not just ‘lead roles’.
In Dacoit, my character is vital—without it, the story cannot progress.

Actors like Sree Vishnu, Suhas, Vijay Sethupathi and many others have done diverse roles and audiences accepted them. But female actors often don’t get that flexibility. I wanted to challenge that mindset. Films like Virupaksha and Polimera helped shape my career in a very positive way.
In Laila, my role was central to the plot, and the story revolved around my character. If the film had reached more people, it would have earned me great recognition. Still, I see everything from a creative perspective.”
You’re also a doctor. Do you still practice?
“I’m a general physician. I practiced at Apollo but stopped just before COVID. Now I’m completely focused on acting.
(Laughs) But on film sets, people still make use of me as a doctor!
I feel Indian cinema lacks proper paramedical culture. I want to bring that authenticity into Telugu films someday.”
Do the songs have significance in this film?
“Yes, there’s a beautiful love story in the film, and the thriller elements arise from that relationship. The three songs in the film support the narrative beautifully.”
Tell us about producer Srinivas Chitturi garu.
“He has been in the industry for a long time and is an amazing producer. He never compromised on anything—every requirement of the film was fulfilled without hesitation.”
Upcoming projects?
“Dacoit is currently in production. I have another big project, which will be announced by the makers soon. And Polimera 3 is also set to begin.”
